Statistics 2008
Meal Program: in 2008, the meal program served an average of 900 meals and snacks daily (more than 300,000 meals and snacks in total). This figure represents a dramatic increase from the average of 750 meals and snacks in 2007.
Shelter: the Centre provides 91 shelter beds for adult men (18+). In 2008, the beds operated at 101% capacity.
Clothing: the clothing room distributes new socks and underwear, and new and gently-used pants, shirts, shoes, jackets and winter wear. More than 3,700 items of clothing were distributed each month in 2008.
Health Care Services: the Centre’s clinic is staffed by a registered nurse five days a week. In 2008, the clinic received an average of 319 visits each month.
DARE (Drug and Alcohol Recovery Enrichment) Program: provides counselling, support and a stable place to live for 25 homeless adult men who are waiting for or have just completed treatment for substance abuse. In 2008, 110 homeless men successfully entered treatment through the DARE Program. Forty-five individuals returned after treatment for post-treatment services. The Program helped 41 individuals find housing. An average of 48 alumni living in the community received support from the Program each month.
Resettlement/Housing Program: the Resettlement Program helps homeless individuals (primarily adult men) to find and retain permanent housing. In 2008, the Program helped 121 homeless individuals find housing.
Individuals served: In 2008, an estimated 4,765 individuals used the services offered by Good Shepherd Ministries.
